Lahore — On the eve of Pakistan's 79th Independence Day, the Pakistan Veterinary Pharmaceuticals Association (PVPA) held a dignified patriotic ceremony at PVPA House, 674 P Block, Johar Town, Lahore, on Wednesday, 13 August 2026. Chairman PVPA Dr Asim Mahmood Khan led the observance. Vice Chairman (North) Mr Shoaib Amjad presented a bouquet to the Chairman on behalf of the association's leadership and membership. All present stood for the singing of Pakistan's National Anthem in honour of the flag and the homeland. Lahore — PVPA Chairman Dr Asim Mahmood Khan, serving as a syndicate member of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore, attended the 79th Syndicate meeting held on Wednesday, 30 July 2026. The Syndicate approved a Rs. 4.870 billion budget for the financial year 2026-27 with focus on innovation, applied research, skill-based practical learning, enhancing hands-on training, improving facilities for quality education and services, and transfer of technology to boost Pakistan's livestock sector. Chairing the meeting, UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani reported that Rs. 917.349 million have been allocated for ongoing projects in FY 2026-27, including: • Rs. 500.000 million — Strengthening of KBCMA, CVAS • Rs. 300.000 million — UVAS Campus, Pattoki • Rs. 117.349 million — Establishment of Wrestling Academy & Resource Center (HEC Kamyab Jawan Sports Academies project) Prof Dr Masood Rabbani briefed syndicate members on academic and research activities, including initiatives such as converting Ravi Campus Pattoki into an Agro-Livestock Tourism Resort, establishing the Pakistan Netherlands Dairy Development Center, and launching the Center for Academic Development and Student Wellbeing with mentoring support for students. Presenting the budget, Treasurer Mr Muhammad Umar stated that non-development income of Rs. 3.243 billion is expected during 2026-27 against non-development expenditure of Rs. 3.952 billion, leaving a deficit of Rs. 709.529 million. The university expects to generate Rs. 2.334 billion from its own sources and outlined measures to address the deficit, including production of foot and mouth vaccine, outsourcing of poultry and fish farms, feed mill and milk plant operations, expanded diagnostic and clinical services, market-based degree and certificate courses, solarisation, and austerity measures. The UVAS Syndicate also approved several administrative and academic matters in the best interest of the university and its students. Islamabad — The Pakistan Veterinary Pharmaceuticals Association (PVPA) has raised an important regulatory query with the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP): How to create a Fee Challan to register veterinary nutraceuticals under the HOTC division? PVPA notes that the current system does not provide an option for non-therapeutic products such as veterinary nutraceuticals — only the therapeutics option is available. This creates a practical barrier for industry stakeholders seeking to register nutraceutical and related animal health products through the established regulatory channels. PVPA urges DRAP to clarify the Fee Challan process and enable appropriate registration pathways for non-therapeutic veterinary products under the HOTC division. Islamabad — The Government of Pakistan hosted a high-level National Dialogue on "Harnessing Pakistan's Livestock Potential" on 15 July 2026 at the Prime Minister's Office. Pakistan Veterinary Pharmaceutical Association (PVPA) Chairman Dr Asim Mahmood Khan represented the veterinary pharmaceutical industry, participated in technical sessions, and held high-level stakeholder meetings — including with Mr Syed Hussain Tariq, Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research.
